With their beautiful home situated in a natural setting overlooking the tidal marshes to the west and the soft undulations of the coastal dune structure, Sunshine Design was commissioned to develop a natural looking solution with a focus on Florida Friendly landscape concepts.
Chris Commins, Florida Registered Landscape Architect, designed a beautiful landscape that started with clearing out invasive weeds and vines draping the coastal oaks, bays, magnolia trees and native yaupon holly dominating the 'front yard' landscape and creating a jungle like effect.
Once cleared he set out to select a plant palette heavy on drought tolerant north Florida native plants and carefully selected ornamental plants traditionally found in similar residences in the area. This was a necessity due not only the pervasive irrigation restrictions but also the high percolation rate found in coastal dune structures.
